Karen helps clients reclaim their power by removing constraints and limiting beliefs that keep them stuck. Clients are able to honor and embrace all parts of themselves and begin creating the lives and relationships they truly desire. Karen has worked with children, couples and families for over 20 years to empower personal and relational growth, emotional wellness and joy. She received her Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Northwestern University and extensive training with couples and families from The Family Institute at Northwestern University. She specializes in anxiety, loss, stress, parenting concerns, couple and family issues including separation, divorce, couple, and step-family issues.

 As a co-founder of Parenting Perspectives, Karen is passionate about helping parents. Karen is a mother and stepmother. She knows first hand how challenging parenting can be. Karen provides parent coaching helping parents understand the parts of them that get triggered by their children and works with parents to calm and heal these parts. She helps parents understand and become curious about their child and about the unwanted behavior. She provides effective parenting strategies that enable parents to enhance their connection to their child, set boundaries, reduce power struggles and defiance, help their child feel good about themselves and learn the skills they need. Parents feel confident and become the parent they want to be.

Karen helps families thrive. She has developed and presented over 25 different workshops to thousands of parents and teachers on a wide variety of issues. Her highly acclaimed course, Becoming a Conscious Parent: Tools and Principles for Parenting from Your Heart, based on their Principles of Conscious Parenting, enhances parent’s self-awareness, broadens their parenting choices, strengthens the parent-child connection and fosters resilience, responsibility, and self-esteem in their children. Karen has been a keynote speaker on many topics including, Raising Respectful, Responsible and Resilient Children in a Privileged World. She has been described as “compassionate and committed; Karen’s gentle, open nature allows her to really understand and connect with parents inspiring them to bring positive change to their families.” She has appeared on ABC-7’s Connect with Kids.

Karen is in private practice in Chicago. She provides parent coaching and counseling via telehealth and in-person in Ravenswood and Old Town.
